Job Description

The Faulkner Organization is looking for a self-motivated entry-level Payroll Clerk/ HR Assistant with exceptional critical thinking skills. Payroll or Human Resources experience is preferred but we will consider candidates with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Human Resources. This person will need to work within a team as well as independently, and must be able to follow established processes. An excellent payroll clerk has great understanding of the concept of confidentiality. You will be experienced in entering data with attention to detail, and strong math skills will be necessary. The ideal candidate will be a thorough professional with the ability to communicate effectively with managers and employees. The goal is to carry out all payroll procedures with speed and accuracy.

Payroll Responsibilities: Supports payroll department by handling the input of all new hires across the company into the online payroll system and supporting new hires through their initial payroll onboarding process. Additionally, this person will be expected to process payroll for several dealerships bi-weekly.

•    Upload all New Hires into the payroll software system
•    Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
•    Update electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status, insurance coverage, deductions, job title and department/dealership transfers
•    Answer questions and requests from employees and managers
•    Process payroll for up to two dealerships biweekly
•    Collect and verify timekeeping information
•    Investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies
•    Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to supervisor as needed

HR Assistant Responsibilities: Supports human resource department by screening and testing entry level applicants; pulling reports and submitting batch updates to and from payroll and benefits to assist in responding to ongoing employee questions.

•    Screens and tests applicants for entry level jobs across the group; updates employee documents in the online payroll system and maintains personnel records
•    Maintains human resources records by reporting new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases; works closely with the payroll team
•    Documents human resources actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records as needed
•    Participates in career-related training, reads professional publications

Requirements
•    High school diploma or equivalent; BS/BA in accounting/business administration/human resources is a plus
•    Strong attention to detail
•    Ability to work independently and meet all deadlines
•    Ability to work well with all levels of staff and management
•    Outstanding organizational and time management skills
•    Excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills are a must
•    Highest ethical standards, confidentiality is an important part of this role
•    Ability to learn, understand and apply relevant state and federal payroll and employment guidelines
